JSJ Pharmaceuticals Named One of Charleston's Top Ten Innovators of the Year

CHARLESTON, S.C., July 17, 2007 -- JSJ Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (JSJ) is pleased to announce that it has been selected by the Charleston Regional Business Journal as one of this year's top ten innovators in the Charleston region. Among the noted innovations, JSJ has just completed the introduction of the patented PharmaDur(TM) bioadhesive technology, which has been introduced in the Umecta PD(TM) (urea 40%) and Aclaro PD(TM) (hydroquinone USP 4%) product lines.

The PharmaDur(TM) bioadhesive delivery system creates an invisible, breathable matrix providing a controlled release of medication to the applied areas. This represents an important technical advancement for the Umecta(R) and Aclaro(R) brands. Due to the controlled release of the active ingredients, PharmaDur(TM) has been shown to reduce the potential for irritation while improving the hydration of the skin. In addition to the Umecta PD(TM) and Aclaro PD(TM) brands, JSJ is working to introduce additional pharmaceutical actives utilizing the PharmaDur(TM) bioadhesive delivery technology.

"The introduction of Umecta PD(TM) and Aclaro PD(TM) is a significant breakthrough for JSJ and recognition of this innovation by the business community is a real honor," states Jonathan Alba, JSJ's Chief Operating Officer. "JSJ looks forward to additional product introductions utilizing the PharmaDur(TM) technology and the improvement it will provide to future topical drug development."

The PharmaDur(TM) technology has been made available in the following presentations:

JSJ Pharmaceuticals Announces Authorized Generic Agreement

CHARLESTON, S.C., April 4 — JSJ Pharmaceuticals is pleased to announce that, as part of its long-term brand life cycle management, it has reached an agreement with an undisclosed generic pharmaceutical partner to provide authorized generic versions of JSJ brands. While such an arrangement is important to the late stages of a brand’s life cycle, it is critical that long-term planning is in place for rapid strategic execution. “At some point, a brand will lose its market exclusivity; an authorized generic partner provides JSJ with an important tool in the late-stage life cycle management of its brands and will let us respond quickly to changes in market conditions,” stated JSJ’s Chief Operating Officer, Jonathan Alba.

JSJ Pharmaceuticals Assumes Sales & Marketing Responsibility of Oxsoralen-Ultra® from Valeant Pharmaceuticals International
CHARLESTON, S.C., Feb. 7 — JSJ Pharmaceuticals today announced a multi-year agreement under which it has assumed from Valeant Pharmaceuticals International (NYSE:VRX) the sales, marketing, and educational responsibilities for Oxsoralen-Ultra® (Methoxsalen capsules, USP, 10mg), 8-MOP® Capsules (Methoxsalen capsules, USP 10mg), and Oxsoralen Lotion 1% (Methoxsalen, USP, 1%). Oxsoralen-Ultra® is an important product for the treatment of severe, recalcitrant, disabling psoriasis which is not adequately responsive to other forms of therapy.

“This partnership with Valeant Pharmaceuticals represents a great opportunity for JSJ Pharmaceuticals to continue providing clinicians with the ‘toolbox’ of products for the management of clinical challenges faced on a daily basis in their practices and continues to provide patients suffering from recalcitrant psoriasis with treatment options for relief from this debilitating disease,” said JSJ’s Chief Operating Officer, Jonathan Alba.

About Psoriasis disease:
Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin condition and frequently is associated with “plaques” which appear as patches of raised, reddish skin covered by silvery-white scale. The skin often itches, and may crack and bleed which usually causes discomfort. Psoriasis is a lifelong skin disease during which patients experience periods of flares and remissions. As many as 7.5 millions Americans have psoriasis according to the National Institutes of Health, and approximately 150,000 new cases are diagnosed each year according to the American Academy of Dermatology.

Important Safety Information
Methoxsalen with UV radiation should be used only by physicians who have special competence in the diagnosis and treatment of psoriasis and who have special training and experience in photochemotherapy. The use of Psoralen and ultraviolet radiation therapy should be under constant supervision of such a physician. For the treatment of patients with psoriasis, photochemotherapy should be restricted to patients with severe, recalcitrant, disabling psoriasis which is not adequately responsive to other forms of therapy, and only when the diagnosis is certain. Because of the possibilities of ocular damage, aging of the skin, and skin cancer (including melanoma), the patient should be fully informed by the physician of the risks inherent in this therapy.

CAUTION: Oxsoralen-Ultra® (Methoxsalen Soft Gelatin Capsules) should not be used interchangeably with regular Oxsoralen® or 8-MOP® (Methoxsalen Hard Gelatin Capsules). This new dosage form of methoxsalen exhibits significantly greater bioavailability and earlier photosensitization onset time than previous methoxsalen dosage forms. Patients should be treated in accordance with the dosimetry specifically recommended for this product. The minimum phototoxic dose (MPD) and phototoxic peak time after drug administration prior to onset of photochemotherapy with this dosage form should be determined.
